For my June FREE desktop wallpaper calendar, I’ve decided to use two different images. A landscape photo (one of my favorite beach shots) and a bird photo (for my loyal birding fans).
This month you have your choice between “The Last Light”, a beach scene on Windansea Beach featuring a tiki hut and a surfer, or “Pintails and Guest”, a bird photo featuring Northern Pintails and a Black-Necked Stilt.

A friend (Jeremy) and I headed out to Salton Sea, CA at the end of March. After learning a few things about reliable models and photographers, we headed out on what was supposed to be a 2 day trip with 3 models and 2 photogs, turning it into a one day event with the two of us.
We didn’t let the last minute drop-outs and $500+ dollars spent on the shoot get us down. We decided to work with what we had. We had planned some surfer shots with Jeremy, in the desert environment of Salton Sea. We primarily stayed on the East side of the lake, finding that Bombay Beach had the type of scene we were looking for. Broken down buildings, decrepit objects… it was kind of like a ghost town.
I hope everyone survived the cold, because winter is almost gone. The birds are coming back, the temperature is warming up and soon the flowers will begin to bloom.

I have just returned from spending three weeks in snowy Iowa. Quite a difference from a San Diego winter. It’s really nice to get out of your usual seasonal scenery on occasion. I love the beauty of a snowy winter landscape. Not to mention many of the animals the dominate the winter terrain.

I hope everyone is having a pleasant winter.
I know the east coast has been getting quite a lot of winter weather and, from growing up in Pennsylvania, I know that it can really become tiresome dealing with the snow and ice.
Amidst all of that, try not to lose sight of the beauty of a snowy winter. It wasn’t until I lived in San Diego for a few years that I realized how much I took snowy landscapes for granted.
To help remind everyone of the beauty of winter, I chose my photo titled “Iowa Sleigh Ride” for February’s free desktop wallpaper calendar. I really enjoy this photo, and I think it really captures the festive nature that a snowy winter can have.

I will be exhibiting up to 11 pieces in a local art exhibition titled “Nature Interpreted: Seven Eclectic Approaches”, hosted at the Mission Trails Visitor Center Gallery, in San Diego, CA. It will consist of a group of 7 artists with varying art mediums:
